Shouldn't the classifieds "self police" themselves? Meaning if their item does not sell quickly, they would reduce the price to a point where they start getting PMs about it? I have no desire to comment on someone else's asking price - a lot of them say "or best offer" or something similar anyway.

Who decides what the reasonable price is? Is it what a fan of that model would consider is fair or what a owner of another brand would say? Shouldn't the market decide what's fair or not?

It turns a lot of people off, and the site suffers because it's reputation of being a good place to get good deals, has become a place to go and pay more than retail for used guns.

I don't care what argument you make, that isn't good for the site and it doesn't make it better.

There is the 1 in 100 that is an actual deal. Most are not. And we complain, because the forum gets clogged up with hundreds of people selling their used guns over retail because it has an extra $100 of sentimental value to them, which makes a lot of us give up skimming through trying to find the one deal that doesn't suck.

I absolutely believe that while you are right, we can just not buy them at inflated prices... it DOES have an impact on traffic here, as a lot of people simply move on or go to the LGS store because more often than not, the LGS is the cheaper option...

Nobody is forced to buy those overpriced used guns, but at the same time, if the goal is to keep the site viable...
Buds gun shop,

I didn’t read all the replies so may have already been said but I say charge after say 10 ads for new members. Let new comers see the value before hitting them up for money should prevent people from not joining that otherwise would.

So better is to let members post to say, in their opinion, the item is overpriced? I think that would be a no go for a lot of people here and they would just leave. Plus you'd have a harder time getting new members to stay. I just don't see how allowing price comments improves the site, generates more members and thus more revenue.

Boy what a bunch of chickens, almost 72,000 members but less than 500 votes so far. Quit being such scaredy cats and vote your conscience! Say what you mean and mean what you say............

72,000 members is the amount of members signed up since this forum started. If the admin would delete all non active members that have not logged in in the past 12 months, I bet that number would be more like 2000 active members

Charge for posting ads. Sure you’d lose some people. But it would be worth it. And I read almost all of the posts in this thread, I agree with all of the guys on making the mods chill out a bit with “warnings” and not letting us speak freely. If someone posts a factory G19 with no upgrades for $750 we should be allowed to do a little bashing.
