Can not help but wonder how many folk foaming at the mouth about overpticing rush to tell the widow she is selling hubbies guns too cheap -- I guess that is deal of the day --
My biggest fear is that when I’m gone my wife will sell all my sh*t for what I told her I paid for it

There isn't an easy answer... but when I see people vehemently against any sort of price controls, or even allowing people to comment on prices in ads, one thing pops into my mind...

Whenever you see a policy change, or piece of legislation coming... Maybe it's about a Voter ID card, or some policy at AT&T that says you can't have unlimited data on your cell phone if you use the wifi hotspot....

The people that tend to scream the loudest about those policies or laws, tend to be the ones that know that the gravy train is about to run out and they don't want that. They tend to be the ones that abuse the current system, and so no, they don't want it to change...

With Voter ID cards, its the Party that benefits the most from illegals voting. Democrats.

When the cell carriers were changing their data and tethering plans, the ones crying were the ones that figured they didn't need home internet, so they just used their $30 per month unlimited data cell plan, and put their xBox and all their home devices on it and were using half a terabyte a month... Of course they didn't want to see that gravy train end, but they were the ones that were causing AT&T and VZW to have to crack down on things to begin with...

I see some of that at work here, I think. People aren't arguing to "Pay as much as possible for an item"...

They are arguing that they want to charge as much as they want, even if it is gouging and over retail, because they figure some sap that doesn't know any better, or can't go to a dealer for some reason, might be willing to pay it.

Let's not kid ourselves. And let's not pretend that it's a great argument, either...

Later...
Tl;dr

Again, if something is free and it sucks, it's not a big deal... Gun shows, this forum, etc...

But when you are asking people to pay to use something, then it creates a certain expectation in their mind, that a value will be provided...

I have purchased 10 guns in the past few months. All of them from local gun stores. I looked for them here, and in every single case, the used gun here, was more than the new gun at the dealer. I racked up a lot of sales and trades in my first year here, and then it quickly went down hill. I try to price my items at least $25 less than I see them for on Bud's or GA Gun store, which is probably why 90% of the things I sell, sell within 24 hours. I tend to price things fairly.

A lot of folks, don't. And that's ok, but when the overpriced stuff becomes the norm, and the market value becomes the exception, I think it makes this forum a lot less desirable of a market... which again, is fine when it is free... but if we are going to a "pay to play" model, I would hope that we improve things.

Call me crazy...

Ok, I am up to $10 to shut up.
