The owner is simply looking for a way to maintain the site's revenue stream without negatively impacting site usability and he floated an idea that's worked successfully on a lot of other similar sites. Implying that this entire thread was just some sort of manipulative, back door supporter drive is not only ridiculous, it's also kind of an asshole thing to say about the guy.

yep 810 of these post have came from only 49 people. while over 1100 have voted.

And just to put a finer point on the numbers...there are roughly 72,000 members on the site. Roughly 1,000 of those members have responded to the poll. So, 1.3% of the ODT care enough to respond to the poll. Even if we assume that the 72,000 has some bloat due to old and/or inactive accounts and halve it, we are still talking about only 2.6%. That means that roughly 97.4% of the ODT cant be bothered one way or the other and HALF of the 2.6% think that this js a bad idea.

Pull the trigger already, this thread has turned into a quagmire.

Steve I believe it would hurt the site to some degree, but who knows how much. Is there any way to make a major push for members to become supporters? I joined for 5 years and when that runs out in 2022, i’m Going to join for a lifetime.
