This technology has been around for a while. Saw it on a show in like 2010 or 2011. I did not know they were using the info for more than finding stolen cars though...

Sorry to say, but you are wrong on both accounts.

the cameras at the lights are not for the red light changer.
and
the ones on cop cars are not radars.

So you must of asked the two stupidest people in both professions.

I can't argue about the cop cars, but the ones on the redlights are facing the on coming traffic and I spoke to the person hooking them up inside the redlight control box? They both might be stupid, but neither one had a reason to lie to me.
