After last night's storm and the inevitable power outage I'm seriously considering a portable solar power station.
Last night I used my car charger to run my little tent AC and my big spotlight to charge my phone which was about dead when the storms hit. It wasn't optimal but it worked.
I have big generators for the major stuff and extended outages but I think I need something that's quick to set up and use for emergencies or bad weather.
Anyone have any experience or recommendations? I need something that will power some medical equipment and charge phones and such. I'd rather have too much then not enough but I'm not looking to power the whole house either.
I've been looking at them online all day and I'm more confused than enlightened.

Not solar, but WEN has some small backup power generators you may want to consider.
I bought a 2000 watt inverter to run the fridge after two extended outages wiped out several hundred dollars of food in the freezer last season. Little suitcase sized unit.
Lazy me hasn't tested it yet, really need to before hurricane season cranks up.
They run sales occasionally, so you may just want to check back once in a while.

Use one of these to figure out how many watts you need for startup and running, then divide your battery watt hours by that running number to figure out about how long it will last. Factor in a little loss in translation as well.
