I typically only shop about once a month so the shortages and high prices aren't gradual to me. They are very much self evident and abrupt.

I saw $9.00/lb bacon yesterday (some commercial package, not market sliced) on Hilton Head. That's outrageous. Most of the bacon was between $5.99 (12 oz) and $9.00 per package.
