I’m getting an omega 9k and I am going to mount to a MPX, which is piston action, three lug and a Glock 19 direct thread 1/2x 28. I also might direct thread onto MPX to 1/2 x 28, aftermarket barrel. Do I need pistons for one or either. I’m new to pistol cans so I guess I’m being a little dense just wanting to do it right, thanks.

If I'm reading you right, you'll need a piston for your Glock. Direct thread won't run on a recoil operated pistol. The direct thread on the MPX or the three lug/piston on the MPX are both viable options for a gas/piston/blowback platform.

I think this is correct, but if not I'm sure someone will chime in shortly.

Ok thanks for helping clear that up.

piston with a fixed barrel spacer is another option for the MPX. It's also the cheapest option if you need the same thread pattern piston for your glock.

I actually got an aftermarket Martel for it that has three lug build on and has 1/2x28 thread. The barrel is 4.5” so do I need a piston for that because it is not blowback operated. Sorry this kind of confused me lol.

You’re talking 2 different mounts - 1/2x28 or three lug? I think you are saying your mpx barrel is 1/2x28 with a three lug adapter. In that case you need the three lug mount for the omega. Or skip that and just run the 1/2x28 piston with a fixed barrel spacer threaded onto the 1/2x28 MPX barrel. The same piston will be used with the spring for your glock.

Ok here is the barrel I’m talking about for the MPX. The lugs are made into the barrel. I’ll probably just run a three lug on it to keep it simple and switch to piston when I run Glock.

Ah, its got threads after the 3-lug. Yes, run it either way you want. Three-lug if you want to spend the extra money on the mount.

Yea I kind of want it recessed back in the hand guard so I might just stick to 3 lug. I just really didn’t understand the whole piston thing and if I needed a piston if I threaded on the MPX being that it has a piston operation not a blowback. So confusing...

The suppressor piston has nothing to do with the gun being piston driven. It has to do with the barrel moving. Piston MPX, blowback CZ Scorpion, Piston or DI ARs - All of these have direct thread or other type of Non-moving mount system. Your glock and other guns with tilting/moving barrels all need the Neilson device (Threaded piston and spring).
