Publix Rib Roast $10.99 (2025)

I find Kroger meats to be significantly inferior to Publix.
Possibly because they sell a lot of Select grade instead of Choice and Prime.
We have a Harris-Teeter (slightly upscale Kroger) here, but for meat purchases I just drive on to Publix.
What Kroger sells as "Select" I'd call Cutter or Utility. Not fit to eat.

I do sear mine, however you have to be careful....tooo much cooking will over cook the cap(that's why low and slow works best).....PLUS the visible outside on a piece of rib roast is minimal...the visual effect comes from the view of the pink and juicy center of the cut, and not the exterior of the cut.....results may vary

They call what ur describing a brisket. You do that all day with $2 a pound cut of meat or if u prefer Slopes BBQ style food.

But when ur dealing with a fine cut like a rib roast, you cook it right like a Lawry's world famous prime rib...

But hey...if that's what u wanna do...have at it. Make it beef jerky for all I care. Just send pics...or it didn't happen.

Enjoy your fine baked roast Mr. Lawry. I'll enjoy mine (just like we always do). You should try one that has been smoked - if it's not to harsh for your palate. And would never be mistaken for a brisket.

Changing subject (an ODT specialty), I noticed chicken wings are now 90 cents /lb higher than breasts.
And I can't remember the last time I saw a package of beef/calf liver.

NO freezer burn!!!
Ready for Thursday!!!
