Question on .380 defensive ammo…. have you tried this stuff?

i keep the hornady xtp in my keltec and sig 238. I ordered some of those Lehigh 65g for 380 , some 115g for 9mm and the 55g .224 controlled chaos but have not slowed down to stuff them yet..

Yeah…. you’re the guy I’m looking for! let me know what you think after trying that 65gr stuff in your Keltec and/or Sig…. I’m really interested in your results and first impressions….

I am using Underwood 380 in 65 gr with no problems with my Colt Mustang. The Xtreme is a bad azz looking bullet. I use to carry Horaday 90 gr XTP. The recoil on the Underwood is more controllably in the Mustang than the XTP. Both cycle good for me.

I haven’t used it. In my opinion in a lcp size pistol , I would take reliability of cycling before anything else. At least you would be poking a hole in the attacker, reliably. Glock 42 size ( my Glock 42 cycles anything) , I run hornady . A 380 will never be a 9mm, and you will never have a 9mm the size of a lcp.
How did you get your 42 to cycle anything, everything? Wife carries one but only with round-nose ammo due to unreliable cycling with hp or flat-nose ammo. Ramp is polished, but only 100 rounds or so through it.

Remember when Atlanta phone books were three and a half inches thick? I soaked one in water for two days. Hornady Critical Defense xtp from a Kel Tec P-3AT blew a two inch hole out the backside. No problems with feeding or accuracy.
Correction:. That was Hornady Critical Defense FTX 90gr. Which did poorly in the above linked test.

My tiny DAO action pocket .380 gets fed only full metal jacket, not only for the sake of reliability but also so that the cost doesn't make me hesitate to practice with it regularly and shoot up the ammo I've been carrying for months up to a year each time I go to the range.

I have used it in my 32 ACP and in my 45 ACP.

Targets only in both guns, it fed well.

Functions like a HP, but is solid and does not have to expand.

Recall the Beretta Tomcat does not like the 32, feed issues, but ran fine in my Keltec 32.

380-

Here is the 45-

Completely stock. I got it used. It’s laser beam accurate and as reliable as can be. My buddy had bought it for his wife years ago, she tossed it under the seat of her car and forgot about it . He jumped in her car and went to adjust the seat and couldn’t. After a quick investigation he found the Glock 42 under her seat wedged . I then traded him a 38 for it. I’ve had 2 Glock 42 pistols and both ran flawless.
