Finally got a watch that tells me distance/heart rate and such. Glad I did, it appears I am running at redline with that vest on for waaaay too long. Max HR should be around 179bpm for my age and I was in Zone 5 and all the way up to 191bpm for 15 minutes of a 16 min 2 mile run. I am also starting out much too fast. I am going to have to back off the pace a bit or I think my shooting will be virtually non-existent...that or bring 300 rounds of ammo for each weapon system. :D

2 miles, 20 lb vest, Heart rate vs Pace Overlay:

I just got finished running the posted course in full kit minus rifle and pistol (cold range can’t do that). All I can say is if you’re running the 10k, bless your hearts.

Best I could manage for the 5k was 38:25. Humbling. I plan on trying to run it again next weekend and each weekend until the race. I’d say course is 70/30 road to gravel. Lots of hills. Shotgun hill is a beast. I couldn’t run the whole thing. Tough even walking up it.

I was running hills in preparation, but it was going down hill with the weight that really started to get to my shins. Ill just have to deal with it on race day.

Yep. Same here. However the hills I’ve been running pale in comparison (though steepest I can find). Per my truck off-road app, shotgun hill is 13degrees, so a 23% grade. Other hills were 7 and 8, so 12% grades.

I had to stop running with my plate carrier, it was about 25lbs and it was killing my knees just running on mainly flat ground. Sounds like I need to find some hills to practice on.

With about 4 lbs of Taco Bell for the first 3 miles...
I'd say you are ready. Weighted?

I made a NY resolution to run 500 miles, lose 30 lbs, and run a sub 50 min 10k in 2019. 2/3 of the way home. I have a RnG or 10k race every other Saturday until thanksgiving penciled in, I may just luck into the last goal.

Going to CMP Friday to get dope on TA33. My rifle lost some weight too.
