RBGC 2019 Run-and-Gun (5k/10k)

2:20 start time time for me. Yuck. Good thing I’ve been running and shooting in the afternoons.
Definite advantage to starting in the am, I wish they had a way to start folks sooner/get through faster (maybe 2 of each stage?). You should have told them that you'll be hopping on one leg the whole way and thus need to start ASAP in the am =D.

Very big advantage. Last years winner is starting at nearly 2pm though, so thats a good...for everyone else.

Yeah but Sean Murphy is a pro shooter. I haven’t seen anyone come close to his scores shooting. That alone is why he wins most of these events.
Just for my own understanding, how exactly is the shooting weighted? Lets assume 0 misses, if your run time was 1 hour and mine was 30 minutes and your shoot time was 5 minutes, but my shoot time was 10 minutes, do I win overall or is that a tie?

Its much more than that. I have a sheet from scoring the last one I did. Run and shoot are equally weighted. Each stage is equally weighted.

50% run time and 50% shooting

So with 6 stages for the 5K, each stage is worth 100 points. The best run for that stage gets 100 pts, and your percentage of the best run is your points per stage.

However many stages there are x100pts is the run time. In the case of 6 stages, 600 points for the run time. Best run gets 100% aka 600 pts. Your percentage of that is your run score.

Most points wins.

So basically since you apparently shoot like a monster, putting a Kenyan in some Vaporfly Nikes and telling him to slow down on his shooting isn't going to matter.
