PREFACE: I now folks don’t like to read long things these days as the ready maybe short sighted and have the attention span of a gold fish however, please read all below and don’t rush to commando keyboarding. Please put some though into what you reply with.
1). RDO’s never take the place of BUIS. They compliment the rig in its entirety. The BUIS serves as a secondary independent sighting systems organic to the firearm. One is not nor should purposefully be slaved to the other. Should your RDO and BUIS line up that way after zeroing, it is what it is.
2). Nobody is saying Triji’s are junk. They are a good system with flaws as all systems have flaws.
3). [mention]Mr. Booshie [/mention] , everyone here is allowed to have an opinion however when “internet commandos” (Not mentioning any names) come through and only pitch what works for them and pimp only expensive products to say anything less than a 500-800.00 optic is trash or is Subpar/ Substandard, it makes one think.
4). Don’t take offense unless there is something to take offense to.
5). I get playing on golf course ranges and having fun in comps, that’s pretty cool however one must take into consideration as your doing all of this and “Training” to be better as your craft, correct? BTW, what is your craft? If not, what is one honing skills for? Is it to play a game or is it to enhance your capability as a shooter enabling you to conduct target discrimination and take shots in times of need most would not take potentially and particularly under stressful conditions.
6). I would like to understand the bigger dick thing and bring up/ out all the bravado BS... What’s the end-game? Is it to pimp products for certain companies/ kickbacks perhaps trying to get a Job/ career position with an organization? Is there really a need for all the chest pumping and bumping?????
7). The OP is in a learning mode like most of us should be and to say anyone has nothing to learn about what they are doing for fun or profession indicates that that person has reached and or achieved a level of superiority that would never be overcome by anyone, any situation weather in a training scenario, or as real world threat presents itself.
8). Everybody should be in a learning mode all the time, TTP’s are ever-changing as well as courses of fire/ perceived threats within those courses of fire as well as real world training as well as real word scenarios. All Real world scenarios and shooters capability limitations are best understood when conducting force on force and the sceneries are not gamed... This is where one truly learns what works and what doesn’t work as far as Movement/ Maneuver, TTP development and implementation.
9). To say that “A red dot DOES take the place of irons in certain situations” is highly inaccurate and absolutely WRONG. In zero cases does a RDO take the place of BUIS in anything other than golf course shooting games as you must be so concerned with the weight of your tool to give you that much more of a perceived edge over your opponents (see next paragraph “10” with *). To suggest such a thing otherwise is absolutely irresponsible and make me question what’s carried if a weapon is carried for EDC.
10). * Let’s say in your case, your running a course of fire you boast about and your RDO goes down and you do not have BUIS installed on your slide, what do you rely on IOT finish your course of fire? This same logic applies to EDC and something happens and you respond as a citizen to an IMMEDIATE and eminent threat potentially constituting life or death actions . You have no BUIS and your RDO is down... What do you do? One wold like to know/ understand “I have different needs than you do” and what those needs entail.
11). Engage a threat(s) with zero Percision due to not having sights working or installed and zeroed?
Remember, YOUR RESPONSIBLE FOR EVERY PROJECTILE THAT LEAVES THE MUZZLE OF YOUR FIREARM.
SHOULD A ROUND STRIKE, MAME/ KILL AN INNOCENT BYSTANDER, YOUR POSSIBLY SUBJECTED TO CHARGES OF AND NOT LIMITED TO MANSLAUGHTER 1/2 OR POSSIBLY PREMEDITATION KNOWING YOU DON’T HAVE SIGHTS (BUIS) INSTALLED SHOULD THAT PERSON PASS DUE TO NEGLIGENCE.
12). Tons of variables and what-ifs.... All what-ifs can be argued till one is blue in the face and is completely subjective until it actually happens and one is in the hot-seat answering for his or her dumbass/ negligent actions.
13). I’m curious as to what you and your buddy do for a profession with a show of proof/ credentials to ensure everyone is honest. Anything can be doctored, so provide 3 references for verification (proof) of all badassary..... if LEO’s, Swat, OGA please provide Department/ Chief or supervisor POC, etc not in relation to you. Please don’t say its “classified” as everyone will know what fraud/ stolen valor looks like.
14). What I’m getting at is be comfortable in your own skin and if you are that’s awesome. There is zero need to go through the Bigger Dick Contest (BDC) on this thread and not offer advise or sound advice/ TTP development using or how-too’s for the use of RDO’s on small caliber (semi-auto, Auto, Revolver or breach loading) hand guns.
15). * Before one argues small caliber- Anything less than a rifle caliber is considered a small arms caliber by the DoD and NIJ.
16). To help with this , here is (not complete) list of traditional-esk pistol calibers to be somewhat specific and not limited to what’s provided below:
17). .22, .380, 9mm, 10 mm, 38 SPCL, 38 Super, .357 sig, 357 mag, .40, .44 mag, .45
18). * Don’t come back with well and AR/ AK can be converted to a pistol so the 5.56, 6.8, 6.5 .308 and .50 cal are pistol rounds too... if this is going to be part of the argument then you might as well throw the DSHk 12.7mm automatic weapon round in there as well. I’m sure some moron could make a pistol for this caliber!
