Roofing

I had roof damage, got quotes from 12k to 22k, state farm paid me $1100.00. I didn't get anything done, didn't even cash the check and still have a damaged roof. I think this was a classic case of elder abuse.

State farm is the absolute worst when it comes to paying out on claims. We had leaks in every room of the house, and the adjusters told us there was no roof damage and that they couldn't find hail damage. Nevermind the reason they couldn't find hail damage because they went on the roof was wet and it's difficult to see hail damage on a wet roof. All that despite my two next door neighbors both got approved for hail damage and wind damage through different insurance. State farm gave me $800 to fix my ceilings. I never cashed or deposited the check, instead I took it to my agent's office handed it to them and canceled my policies with them and went to traveller's.

We got rid of State Farm after they refused to cover my mom because she didn't have receipts from purchases for any of it after someone broke into her apt and stole everything she owned.
USAA's not perfect but they came thru for us

I would get the trees cut down and/or trimmed up before spending money on Leaf Guard. I usually go with the local guy that has been in business the longest. We have a lot of 2nd and 3rd generation run companies here that work hard to maintain a good reputation.

Roof is finished, painters are doing final touch up and replacing my storm door with a nice new black Pella as I type, new gutters tomorrow and hopefully new chimney cap by the end of the week
It looks completely different. It went from 90's look to modern with a little work. Couldn't afford a new garage door on top of all the work right now so it'll have to wait, they painted the old one so it matches the colors of the house
I'm very happy with the results so far

Had to wait to be put on the schedule but finally having the front porch, steps and wood shutters started this morning. Will post before and after pics when it's all said and done. It was a rental home built in 1995, finally getting a modern update
