I learned to shoot with a Marlin 60 but I would take the 10/22 very time. The only guns I want tube mag fed are shotguns and lever guns. Plus I can almost reassemble a 10/22 blindfolded even though I ain't owned one in decades. A while back I wound up with a Marlin 60 basket case ( actually it was big zip lock bags) No way in hell I could get that thing back together.I'd put up my modded 10/22 against a model 60 any day. Stock a 10/22 isnt that much more expensive than a model 60 so I don't know where the 2-3x the cost comment the op made came from. I bought mine new in the box for 200. Model 60 is maybe 1/3 cheaper? I like the ruger mags better. And the options from aftermarket support allow you to do anything you want to it. Not much aftermarket support for the model 60 although its certainly not a bad rifle.
Oh and there's no denying which rifle the aftermarket supports more.
