Ruger 10/22 is the most overrated gun ever.

I'd put up my modded 10/22 against a model 60 any day. Stock a 10/22 isnt that much more expensive than a model 60 so I don't know where the 2-3x the cost comment the op made came from. I bought mine new in the box for 200. Model 60 is maybe 1/3 cheaper? I like the ruger mags better. And the options from aftermarket support allow you to do anything you want to it. Not much aftermarket support for the model 60 although its certainly not a bad rifle.

I learned to shoot with a Marlin 60 but I would take the 10/22 very time. The only guns I want tube mag fed are shotguns and lever guns. Plus I can almost reassemble a 10/22 blindfolded even though I ain't owned one in decades. A while back I wound up with a Marlin 60 basket case ( actually it was big zip lock bags) No way in hell I could get that thing back together.
Oh and there's no denying which rifle the aftermarket supports more.

I have both. No modifications except for a Hogue overmolded stock on the 10/22. While I have no complaints (given what they cost) about either, one I keep at home. The other I keep at the cabin because if it gets stolen I won't lose any sleep. Care to guess which is which?

Its a lot easier to make a 320 full size into a compact if for some reason you feel the need or decide to replace the grip because of the crap stipple job someone thought was cool.

Well when you factor in ballistics, take down power and range. The .22wmr is the best hands down.
But hey you can make some pretty cool looking BB guns with those 10/22's and Marlin 60's.

In terms of value, the 10/22 and Model 60 might be the best buys there are. had both. prefer the Model 60.
