Ruger Mini 14 - The Good, Bad & Ugly?

I have owned 9 over the last 30 years, you said you want the ranch rifle, that's one plus (built in scope mounts)
The newer ones with the M1 carbine style front sight are more accurate than the older ones with the long ramp style front sight.
They are bringing more than AR's are now, but I own 2 and I shoot them a lot more than I do my AR.

Just looks like something I would shoot more than my AR. I know they're not known to be quite as accurate, but I prefer the classic styling to the tactical look. Thanks for the input. I read on another forum that the older models with a dash in the serial number might be something I should stay away from.

I still have the 181 series I bought back in 1978! I love it, it's as small as an M1 carbine in an assault rile cartridge and is simple to disassemble and easy to clean. Mine groups well a good shooter.

They ALL have a dash in the ser #. The first 3 numbers are the series then - and the rest are the serial number.

The French also use them! I have two, one still in the box, both new models. I have owned a few over the years and love them. I prefer them over the AR, but I like the simple design and the wood stocks. Great rifles and great prices at Wally world.

Agree with you post but I think you stole my dog!
