Ruger has come out with a response to the S&W Shield M&P 380.
Ruger's version is a bit shorter, but has a double-column magazine -holds 10 rds.
Extended mags are available with a grip extension built-on. Those hold 15 rounds.
Hickok45 gives it a good review. He says it's pleasant to shoot, though of course he's not a fan of the weak .380 cartridge for self defense.
I WISH RUGER had MADE A LONGER- BARRELED VERSION intended for women and newbies to have for home defense and vehicle carry, rather than concealed carry.
Having a 5" barrel instead of this 3.4" barrel would make the gun more accurate when aimed, faster to recover from recoil in rapid fire, feel softer to the shooter, and would be more point-able if you don't have time to get a real sight picture.
Women love small guns, and maybe a small grip and short reach to the trigger is good for them. Light weight is something they feel is necessary. But a short stubby barrel isn't necessary or even disirable if concealment isn't the gun's role.
