So i plan on having some work done to a model 70 I own and I was looking it over today and noticed some rust in the bore. I haven't used this rifle in quite some time and was wondering whats the best way to get the rust out? I still have some left over birchwood casey blue & rust remover that i used on a .22 i own, would that work or could that damage the bore?

Depends on how much rust you have .
I would try soaking it overnight in something like CLP then using a wire brush followed by boresnake or soft cloth.
I'd flush it with cheap wd-40, run soft patches, run a brush with solvent, then swab with oil until clean.
If you don't care about the finish, the blue/rust remover will work.

If its just light surface use oil and a brass wire brush and some patches
Brash brush and break free has always worked guns I have wound up with that were not cared for.
^This^ should be all it takes if indeed it is only surface rust.
Are you sure it's not copper? Can you swab it with a q tip and bring back rust?
