rust on gun

I use copper or brass wool it's softer than steal won't scratch ur blueing an don't have to worry about the residue rusting an then rub it down good with 3 and 1 oil

I've "restored" several old rusty guns. I've had the best success by spraying the rusty parts down with Liquid Wrench and then wiping it off with a clean dry towel. and THEN going over it lightly with 0000 steel wool followed by a light oiling.

Don't use steel wool on surface rust, use a brass shell casing just hammer flat on end and scrape rust off with the brass will not remove your blue like steel wool will. Never use steel wool it will remove the blueing.
