It seems to me that salesforce are opening themselves up for a civil suit based on breach of contract.

For sure! And Salesforce doesn't just offer a CRM but a platform that can be built upon for so many business purposes. They are constantly acquiring new technologies to make it a no brainer to not choose their products, especially if you already have it implemented. It can get to the point where if the Salesforce platform is leveraged for so many critical business processes, the option of switching to another tool may not be possible. Lose money by migrating? Or lose money by abiding to their "policy?" Super crappy!

How is this different from a baker refusing to make a wedding cake for a gay couple?
Should be same judicial issue: company providing service to the public, choosing customers based on personal bias (or morals).

As far as the law goes, gays are a protected class gun owners are not.

And they have contracts with U.S. Customs and Border Patrol. It does make me wonder if they'll try to force their political agenda if or when Salesforce becomes heavily utilized. Who knows...
