I was wondering if this rifle is worth $499.00 new in the box. Normally they run nearly 800 bucks but I have a chance to score one for 499. Has a heavier barrel than a standard hunting rig, a threaded barrel and a picatinny scope base already on the rifle.
I would like to put the action and barrel on a cool Boyd's stock. This would be just a range toy and would not take the place of the bolt action I plan on building in 7mm PRC. I now it's a savage but the price is attractive enough to consider seriously. What do you guys think?

They are on clearance at Bass Pro Shops in limited calibers.
