I know it's almost last minute.. but I am working on my SBR paperwork and I am still debating what to go with... I have a couple of questions... hopefully someone out there in ODT Land has some insight. There is so much information on the internet that I really don't know what to trust... I figured I'd trust ODT members over other forums... I've had great luck so far with gaining assistance from you guys!

I am going to do a 556 SBR and a 9mm SBR. I do plan to shoot them suppressed also.

556 Questions:
  1. Is 11.5 inch really the ideal size barrel for 556? Or is there a better length?
  2. What length gas tube would be most beneficial?

9mm Questions:
  1. Will there be very much difference in effectiveness between a 7inch barrel to a 10in barrel? I know there will be a difference in velocity and in drop but if you have one please let me know what you have encountered.
  2. What is the best conversion block to use? I have seen better reviews about the ones that are inserted from the top.

Overall Questions:
  1. Posts EVERYWHERE are saying conflicting statements about the measurement... do I measure with the stock fully extended or fully shortened?
  2. Who would you recommend to engrave the lower?

Thanks for the help!
Michael

On the 9mm why not go shorter? I'm running about 5 inches on mine. The rest is all suppressor. I used a dedicated lower so no help on the block.

Nonliberal Nonliberal for engraving. Get close on oal with it extended is what I did. They aren't coming to measure down to the millimeter

You are not at last minute. Alll of us have been secretly planning this and doing our best to make it simple for customers. I do not foresee any really drastic complications in the near future. Just get with a reputable dealer.

A 5.56 SBR is not a very precise instrument. I use what the pros use a 10.5.

9mm I recommend 5" barrel and a QTC10 lower.

Dobbs Defense for engraving and I just Google Drive the measurements. I don't think it's something to stress over. Give us the length of barrel and we can figure out the OAL. My 10.5 I'd 29.5

1. For an SBR, yes. Yes, 16"
2. Carbine.

1. There will be a difference in velocity but will it be meaningful? Not really. Remember that at 7" you are already 2" longer than an barrel the cartridge is designed for.
2. Don't use a conversion block, buy a dedicated lower. But if you must use a mag block, they are mostly the same.

1. Fully extended.

"Other than reputable"?
