So when do I have to have it engraved? When the stamp comes back? Can I keep it in my possession if it is currently a pistol that I want to convert to a SBR? Thanks

Just to add that it is generally advised you get it engraved before sending it off because if the engraver were to make a mistake, you would not have to redo your paperwork.

And btw, if you have the money, I would advise getting 2 lowers done at this time. You can pick up the lowers cheap right now, and you might as well have a spare, in the event the NFA rules get thrown all out of whack. You're probably looking at no more than $300 for the extra stamp and lower.
