Read an article probably 20 years ago about the Savage "Button Rifling " method. Didn't quite grasp some of the tech stuff but the bottom line was that's how they get accuracy out of a budget priced bolt action. Most of the cheap Savage rifles I have had were really accurate... Paid $175 once for a 110 in 243 that was like it came with a genie for accuracy. Sold it to a buddy for his son's first deer rifle.
And a lot of manufacturers have jumped on "button rifling" sinceRead an article probably 20 years ago about the Savage "Button Rifling " method. Didn't quite grasp some of the tech stuff but the bottom line was that's how they get accuracy out of a budget priced bolt action.
Gotta break'em in rightI lap and season all new barrels with JB bore compound with a mop, before I fire any..That is just me but, I believe that is the proper way to fly. All that I have dealt with, shoot different cold than apposed to hot..When seasoning I use the same weight projectile, after which I compare the performance of different weight bullets..Know the weapons ability at different distance with the one that best works in your weapon. It is the responsibility of the hunter to dispatch what ever they are hunting, as humane as possible. But that is just my opinion..............
