Selling Dad’s gun…

It’s important to not let yourself be burdened by possessions. That means different things to different people.

Now that I'm older it's all just stuff. Some stuff I need, most stuff I don't need it's just nice to have. I'm slowly getting rid of the not needed stuff. My only concern would be my dogs should something happen to me. Fortunately my whole family is on board with taking care of them. Custody of my dogs might be what they fight over. Lol.

I have the family history, both mom and dad, in photo albums. Some of the pictures are cave drawings. Mom spent decades gathering the photos, documenting the people, place, and time. What's really sad is nobody in the family really wants them. To me they are priceless.

The 3 family firearms I have are my grandmother's .22 bolt-action rifle from the 1920’s-30’s ?, it's the 1st firearm I ever handled & fired back when I was 9 or 10 yo.

I received my dad's S&W 49 & 66 revolvers after he passed 25 yrs ago

My 84yo mom still shoots her Mossberg 410 single-shot shotguns and has a few revolvers, I pray she continues shooting varmints until she's a centenarian

Of all the guns that have been around I would love to have my dads Nickel plated 37 or blued 19-4 snub or his dads Model 49.

There's some really nice things in my dads collection. WW2 guns and whatnot. But there's a few I will get rid of when the time comes. That DC9 is a POS.

I was slightly worried about that when my dad got remarried. Convinced him to store his guns at my house.

Just depends on the particular item or my mindset at that moment. With that said having lost my dad in 04' then a total loss in a house fire in 08' my attachment to my current items varies. I believe it to be more psychological or an emotional response when the time comes to part with them, especially if you "feel" a connection of who it belonged to. DJD just writing this brought back some not so good memories...

Sorry. That is how it mostly goes though. People that do get something are truly blessed. Anytime I ever received somethin, I always tried to do something good with it to improve our quality of life
