Reads like OP is considering building a range to share with all his ODT bud's![]()
Clubs: South River, Cherokee, Riverbend. Only Riverbend has over 200 I think.
To far...for me. I would not go more than 45min to an hour one way. But, to each his own. I have thought bout joining river bend gun club but man its close to $1000 just to join then like $300 a year : (
and they have weird rules!
Like?
Yes Riverbend goes to 600.Well, CMP is less than 2 hours I think-- going Friday for my first time, weather permitting. Otherwise, 1 hour 15 to my hunting club, where I can shoot 100 yards off a nice bench, sometimes more, unimpeded by anyone-- but only for six months out of the year.
Or an hour 45, roughly, to Gunsite Hills for long range shooting at steel. That's what there's the dearth of... It's either Chief's in Lexington, or CMP in Anniston. Or you have to know someone with property. Otherwise-- nothing past 200 I think that's open to the public within two hours.
Chief has steel out to 700 or so, and you can hang targets. CMP, well, no hanging targets, but no steel and no long walks to retrieve paper or paint steel.

Build a 1000 yard range within 2 hours, have a non-cantankerous operator, and you will get customers. (I get along with Chief just fine, but some do not.)
Like if you're a cc holder and carrying, you have to unload and box your firearm before you step foot on the property and then you may reload it once your on the firing line.
Yep, CC or not that's a rule. Guns loaded only on ranges...
