Share a pic and information of your Whitetail Hunting Rifle for 2025...

I was wondering what other folks are hunting with this year... I finally had the 308 built I have been putting off for a long time and finally bit the bullet...

Joe Collier ( Rifles )who is an awesome builder and also a super nice guy... helped me get the project from paper into my hands... this setup is better than I thought it would be!!!

I am still deciding which bullet to use and I have some testing to do this weekend... What is your favorite 308 round for white tail deer? I am including some of the build specs below. Keep in mind I wanted a short 308 for a suppressor host so keep that in mind.

Shoots 168 Barnes very well...

MDT CBRN w/ hunting bottom metal…

Proof Sendero 16” (twist 1 in 10)

I picked up a Collier rifle earlier this year on a trade deal. I didn’t know anything about Joe then but the rifle is slick and shoots little groups. It’s a .223. I had the barrel cut to 17.5” and threaded so I could use use my Alaskan ti. It’s becoming a favorite…I’m gonna try some 77gr Sierra TMK’s.
It’s a 9 twist so they might not stabilize?

This ol girl is making her case to be included on the western whitetail hunt this fall. Hasn’t been hunting since falling off the Land Rover in Africa with its original owner about 40 years ago…(hence the electrical tape lol).
It’s the original lightweight sheep rifle…a pre-64 Winchester action .270 built by Brown Precision.
It’s lighter than all my new Carbon guns lol.
Took it out of the safe, pulled three rounds out of the buttstock carrier and it shot a 3/4” group.
Hasn’t been fired in a decade. Still dead on 1.5” high at 100.

I'd looked into this back when. And chose to stay with the 308 WIN. It was a better all around fit. And yes, I've taken most of my deer with the WIN as well
From what I’ve researched, the 308 MX was created to have the same ballistics as a 308 win from the lever action platform.

That's about right as I remember. I was looking at this when they first came out. WIN. is a whole lot easier to find and probably a better price. The MX would be an oddball. This day in time, not a good idea
