I picked up a Collier rifle earlier this year on a trade deal. I didn’t know anything about Joe then but the rifle is slick and shoots little groups. It’s a .223. I had the barrel cut to 17.5” and threaded so I could use use my Alaskan ti. It’s becoming a favorite…I’m gonna try some 77gr Sierra TMK’s.I was wondering what other folks are hunting with this year... I finally had the 308 built I have been putting off for a long time and finally bit the bullet...
Joe Collier ( Rifles )who is an awesome builder and also a super nice guy... helped me get the project from paper into my hands... this setup is better than I thought it would be!!!
I am still deciding which bullet to use and I have some testing to do this weekend... What is your favorite 308 round for white tail deer? I am including some of the build specs below. Keep in mind I wanted a short 308 for a suppressor host so keep that in mind.

I’ve harvested many with a .308 WIN.Go with a 308Win.
I'd looked into this back when. And chose to stay with the 308 WIN. It was a better all around fit. And yes, I've taken most of my deer with the WIN as wellI’ve harvested many with a .308 WIN.
From what I’ve researched, the 308 MX was created to have the same ballistics as a 308 win from the lever action platform.I'd looked into this back when. And chose to stay with the 308 WIN. It was a better all around fit. And yes, I've taken most of my deer with the WIN as well
That's about right as I remember. I was looking at this when they first came out. WIN. is a whole lot easier to find and probably a better price. The MX would be an oddball. This day in time, not a good ideaFrom what I’ve researched, the 308 MX was created to have the same ballistics as a 308 win from the lever action platform.
