NICE 3200! I always referred to it as the "Working Man's Krieghoff", and shot the best Skeet scores of my life with a 3200 Tube Set I still have.

I went to Remington's Custom Shop in Ilion 35 years ago to pick out the wood for a Custom Stock they were gonna' build to my specified dimensions. I met with Tim McCormack, the Custom Shop Manager, who explained that they only had two stock blanks left that would work for my dimensions.
After LOTS of looking at both, I picked the one I thought had the better figure in it, left, and went back home to wait, however impatiently, for my new Stock to be completed.

In the fullness of time--About 7 or 8 months, IIRC--I got an Invoice from Big Green & sent off the Check & waited some more for the Gun to be shipped back to me. To say that I was DISAPPOINTED when looking at my new Stock for the first time would be a huge understatement--I picked out a Blank that looked like "AAA Fancy" Walnut & what I got back looked like nothing so much as an ugly, straight-grained BOAT OAR!!!

Needless to say, after I picked my jaw up off the floor I IMMEDIATELY called Remington & asked to speak to Mr. McCormack, the Custom Shop Manager. He asked if I was pleased with the new Stock, and I told him how DISAPPOINTED I was in it's appearance--He explained to me that YES, the Stock I was looking at had indeed been made from the Blank I had picked out and that all the PRETTY GRAIN I had seen had ended up on the shop floor in the form of SHAVINGS and SAWDUST--!!!

He then asked me if I had shot any Skeet with the gun yet and I told him I had not--In fact, I hadn't even put the Gun together yet to see how the "Fit" was! I sensed he stifled a chuckle--Or maybe it was a GROAN--As he suggested maybe I should shoot the thing first before passing judgement on the Custom Shop's handiwork...Since that sounded reasonable to me, even as disappointed as I was with the Stock's rather PEDESTRIAN appearance, I resolved to get out to the Gun Club & shoot it at my first opportunity & report back to him...

The story DOES HAVE a happy ending of sorts--The non-standard dimensions I had the new, albeit PLAIN Stock built to must really mesh well with my physical build and shooting style, as I tied for fourth place on the 28-gauge High Average Leader List the first year I shot the Gun in competition with the new Stock, and I've continued to shoot it quite well ever since...But the Stock is STILL as plain as a DARN BOAT OAR--LOL!

Every one of these are really nice works of art. There are some “museum“ quality as far as i am concerned.
I would browse that museum all day !!
