I drove my buddies blown SBC a couple miles, Nah...I'm good for the rest of my life....F'in deathtrap
Yeah death trap is right! I had a buddy that worked at Altus Air Force base in Oklahoma. He lived in Frederick. He had a fiberglass replica of a T-bucket and that darn thing was scary quick and fast. It had a 60's model LT1 built up with a built turbo 400 tranny. He would cut me loose in that thing and some of the stuff I did ( when I was 17 ) scares me to death right now. You know that type of kid. Just stupid behind the wheel.

Had a guy in LA (lower Alpharetta) build several of these. His personal ride had the quick change rear. It could run close to 200 mph or top out at 135 in a few seconds. One ride for me with the two lanes road getting narrower quickly did me in . Probably 1977-78

There was one speed shop and the owner had a 34 Ford coupe. It was canary yellow and chrome everything. We were looking in an ms out of the car admiring all the performance upgrades. He was running slicks on back that had one cut right down the middle. I happened to take a look at the tachometer and the redline was set at 10,000 RPM. Well at first I questioned it and went in to speak with him. Well he had his employee watch the shop while he took us back and explain. He had his own personal machine shop where he only did his and close friends work. He also had a top fuel car back there as well. He showed me everything he did to the engine and after he went over everything that went into just the short block I was a believer. He had close to 20,000 in just the short block.

Our local speed shop was a small building behind a common 3 bedroom brick house on 120 acres in North Fulton county. If you had a few hundred dollar bills; it was amazing what he could do with a small block Chevy. Same man that built the fiberglass roadster’s. I thought I had to add gold center American Mags plus rear Gabieral Air shocks when I was 17.

jaxyaks jaxyaks you still mulling over your short list ?
I am, it's an ongoing process...lol....It is probably going to be a Miata...as they say Miata is always the answer. I've ruled out a BMW, I like the classics but I don't particularly care to work on them these days.

The Miata seems to have a pretty good support network of specialty shops around the area as well, which is always a help.

Fiats roadsters also are interesting especially in the cost department.

I haven't completely ruled out Porsche, and they seem to have a pretty good support network as well. I just haven't decided if I am ready to stomach Porsche maintenance and parts costs.

It has been a number of years since I have been able to consider a car just for fun...so I am going to take my time and keep an eye out.

Old..74-76 TR6 would be a blast from the past. Only issues would be constant maintenance on those British gems.
I have a 76 white TR6 on my bucket list. Just not sure which way I’m gonna end up yet. Whether a ready ride or a project car.
