shrade lb7 with serial number

I was recently given a shrade lb7 folding knife with the serial number P513xx on the bolster top(xx replaced real numbers on it).

i noticed it seems more heavy duty then any buck 110 i have owned or seen, and the blade seem s to have less wobble. why would they put a serial number on a knife? what could the date of manufacture be?

LB7 was a great Schrade lock back. Had one many moons ago. I would guess that yours was made in U.S.A and not TIMBUKTU-ISTAN CHINA! I think Schrade is owned by United Cutlery now.
