Silly car dealer games....

I'm probably gonna get some static from some on here from this, but I've never had good success with the Ford, Chevy dealers. (wait. Minus Maxie Price Chevy - bought a brand new Corvette in 2007 ---- Price was the price. No nonsense). Hendrick, blah, another dealer in Sandy Springs....idiots.

For years and years, I bought brand spanking new Infiniti vehicles from Infiniti of Gwinnett. Heck, even purchased a slightly used Suburban from them. I kept going back and back. Why? Because they were ZERO pressure and ZERO BS. Many times I would be handed the keys to a vehicle and said give it a test drive, let me know what you think and if you have questions when you get back. No pressure means, I feel better and i'm likely to buy it. The price would ALWAYS be exactly what we agreed on. Never any bait and switch or let me ask BS.

Also bought a slightly used Escalade from BMW dealer in Alpharetta. It was the owners vehicle and they sold it at the used car part of bmw. Zero stress, zero BS. Price we agreed on was the price I paid. Finally, I bought a slightly used Mercedes from the Acura dealer in Duluth. Again, zero stress, zero BS.

Move to Ford. Well, Mall of GA Ford when the new Mustang GT (2011) came out. Had to have one! The price went back and forth crap. Hated it. Was close on price, said ok let's do it, but first value my trade in. This was a 2009 Infiniti G37 with 21,000 miles. PERFECT CAR. They lowballed me beyond belief (as in 5000 less than carmax just did) so I told the salesman no. He kept trying to stop me from leaving. I told him to tell his "sales manager" to BLANK BLANK BLANK BLANK AND DIE. He was a crook and there was NO WAY I would do business with him. I walked.
Following year, like an idiot, I went back to Mall of GA Ford. Different manager, same BS.
Yes I'm a moron, for 2013, i'm back again. Different Manager, same BS.
----Yes, I should have gone elsewhere, but I was so ticked off I didn't want to deal with Ford anymore.

Fast forward to end of 2018 (after renting an F150 for a few days out of town, I'm impressed). Hesitant to go look, but may give Akins a shot.

Don't "need" a new truck, but they sure are nice................

^^^^^ yes, yes, yes. That's exactly what I wanted to hear!!! I was thinking they didn't play games by their volume and good feedback, but wanted to hear it first hand! Thank you.

Yes, I saw their 15k off MSRP on the 18s for XLT's. I would like the Lariat or King Ranch, however, their price tags go through the roof and they offer about 10k off those models. On paper, the XLT is the best "value".

I may go XLT myself just because of that $10k price difference. Hard to justify spending the extra when it's for options I don't have, won't miss and would rarely use.

The options are things like more technology, leather, and sunroof. Nicer wheels. Drivetrains are the "exact" same as what you can get on the XLT.

I really like leather and HATE HATE HATE cloth. However, you can add aftermarket leather for far less than what the package costs. Hell, wish they offer Vinyl seats (cheap) like on the XL models. SO easy to keep clean with mud and junk I usually have on me.

----- Something I've noticed on AKINS 4x4 models, which for me is about mandatory - Akins doesn't have any low optioned XLT 4x4's. They include several thousand in additional options (that I don't really "need") which drives their price up a bit. Yeah, options are how they make some extra coin, I get it. I'd love to have a mostly stripped XLT 4x4 with an Ecoboost with MSRP in the mid $40's, deduct the 15k off and i'd be close to 30 to low 30's. That's a steal for a 4x4, 4 door, ecoboost.

I'm looking now on their site and they ALL have at least the following: 301A package (sliding rear window, sat radio, power seat) for $2150; chrome package $1695; fx4 (skid plates) $770; power outlet $200. That's nearly $5000 of options I don't need or want, which drives the MSRP to OVER $50,000. Their cheapest xlt 4x4 is $37,xxx. So i'm over $40k out the door. I want to be closer to $35k out the door or even LESS. :(

Ask them to find exactly what you want and have it brought in. I have had that work with them when I wanted a low option vehicle.

On a related side note here I would suggest that if you have not already seen Car Dogs on Netflix you should. George Lopez is in it and yes he's a huge D bag but in this case it works well because he plays a big D bag salesman. This movie is the most accurate description of the car bidness I've ever seen.

Is this your current nightmare?
