Sleep Apnea

Been on my Cpap for about 12 years, Had the sleep study at the VA hospital and they woke me up twice to see if i was dead, just quit breathing longer then they like. I found that if I throw the tube over the headboard it help not getting tangled in the hose, I have full mask and it works great

^ Same. It works great. I wish I'd had done it at age 25.

My breathing locked up I had to slam myself into a wall to get a breath I was terrified and afraid to go to sleep for several days.

Diagnosed with severe apnea. Doctor says I would have to stay on the machine for the rest of my life and is surprise how I am still alive. I have a moderately active lifestyle. 164 pounds and 5' 4. I run often and i'm often on my feet for work. I was on a full face mask but it didn't agree to the way I slept. I am a mouth breather and they told me a nasal pillow most likely won't work. Wrong. I use it in conjunction with a strap that keeps my mouth shut with light pressure (forgot what it is called but you can find it on amazon.com). It made a huge difference in my alertness.

Before I was diagnosed I thought I was just a very tired person due to work and being in the Army. I would drive an hour and get tired. Now that I'm on the CPAP I can wake up and stay awake without any caffeine.
Stay on the machine if you can. Trial out some different mask style and do so weeks at a time. Once you get accustomed to your mask you should see positive results.

good advice I have helped a lot of friends that struggled when they got started.

The mask makes a huge difference in comfort. Instead of tossing the machine, try a different mask. I sleep like a baby withy mine, but it took some trial and error.

I use one called the Amara view….i started with it and stuck with it …probably 12 years in…wife likes it better than me…if I don’t put it on due to too much Saturday night fun she will kick me and make me put it on…stops the snoring

Women don't like anything..........Just sayin.......

Wife has sleep apnea.
Freaked out during her sleep study, thought the mask was suffocating her (of course, it wasn't). Couldn't complete the study, wouldn't try mask again.
Went with an oral appliance (9 years now), sleeps through the night without problem.
