Yep, I'd try. Like you, I figured either that's a transition gun or the cylinder was replaced. I'd get that info from Smith as well. If it's just a barrel, that's an easy fix. But it does need to be professionally looked atI'd try. I have had Smith work on a 686-1 that was out of time. they have parts. they also still make model 66...-9? the barrel will be the same...seeing as this example is NOT pinned.
