Good, not only is it not a good idea to kill them, it's also illegal (fyi for anyone that didn't know).

lol. I didn't know that. I'm no snake expert, but I know that there are very few poisonous snakes in GA. However, if I see an all black snake in my yard, sorry but I'm not about to go Google it.

You don't have to be an expert. Some pretty easy and obvious signs to spot.

First, is it rattling at you or does it have rattles on the end of it's tail?

Second, does it have an arrow/triangular shaped head?

Third, does it appear to have cat eyes, vertical slits?

If you can answer yes to at least one of these then you probably have one of the bad guys.

general rule regarding poisonous v. nonpoisonous...

two holes in your hand = poisonous
roughed up skin only = non poisonous

thats all you need to know. good luck!
