So…went to Cabelas today…

Someone must like CabelaPro cuz business has increased huuuge the last couple a years.
It must be all online orders, because every time I go there, there’s hardly anyone there.

But their yearly annual revenue, has gone from 3,000,000,000 to 4,000,000,000 to 5,000,000,000 to 6,000,000,000
This year they are predicting they will sell 6.5 Billion in revenue.

and it’s not a publicly traded company, one man or one family owns the whole thing.

but I agree with the OP, it’s a miserable place, there is one near my house and I almost rather go anywhere than there.

Apparently t shirt sales at the front door and main aisle

Cabelas/bass pro whatever you want to call it is only 10 mins or so from my work. We got rained on so I had some time..anyway went on over there to see if I could find some 77gr 556 to try out.

That place…at least the firearms side, is an absolute JOKE. It’s like that restaurant you go to and everyone is purposely RUDE, doesn’t pay attention to you and sets the prices ridiculously high. (there is a real restaurant like that, it’s themed that way).

I digress.

I know I’ll get some comments about “Well ya where you been” But I havnt been in so long. It hasn’t changed a bit.

Every. Employee. Looked. Miserable.

The gentleman loading the shelves in the ammo aisle was really cool and helpful, though. He said ever since BassPro bought Cabelas out or whatever it’s been a downhill slide.

Welp. I ain’t going back!!
Here is my Bass Pro story. There is rarely anything worth seeing at the gun counter but since I noticed no one in line I went over to fondle some guns. I walked up and the guy behind the counter asked if I had "signed in" on the Bass Pro app. Of course not, there isn't anyone in line. He said I had to sign in even if no one is in line. Either he was lying or something weird is going on. Are they tracking who is shopping for guns to push advertisements to my phone or some other nefarious reason?
Either way I am not signing in online and told him to go pound sand.

On a lighter note. I have a friend who has a buddy who works at a BPS. His buddy calls him and says there are some nice rifles(can't remember the brand) that are accidentally priced wrong. He headed over and picked up a couple rifles for about $200 under what I could find online. I may sign in that stupid app to get a deal like that.

I used to work at Cabela's when they first opened the Acworth store. Dick Cabela died during that first year and his brother and surviving family were just interested in money. It was great until it was bought out. They (bass pro) gradually started removing benefits and double downed on their credit card and soft line (think clothes) marketing. They also started shrinking hardline floorspace and just generally making idiotic decisions. We had one manager cancel a full shipment of deer corn just weeks before the deer season that baiting was legalized in GA opened. I left when they dropped the employee discount on ammo and reloading components. Their focus shifted from providing a high end customer experience to increasing the bottom line at all costs. Only shop their extreme sales now. For those living close know that they will price match.

I won a $250 Cabela's gift card at our company Christmas party and the guy next to me offered me $200 cash for it, took the cash and never looked back. Haven't purchased anything from them or BPS in 3-4 years.

My children always gets me gift cards to that place. I have same problem with employees but this year i told them no more gift cards. I live about 1/2 mile from them. Back when ammo was hard to get i saw same thing. Always same couple of people in front of line getting ammo on days the cart rolled out (i saw the buddy system). When i said something to Manager about it or hiding it he said we cannot price that yet have no invoice. Then people who bought it would go to parking lot and sell it for high prices.I am glad things getting back to normal. WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND I HOPE+

The BP close to me hasn't had their $5 Ts in a year or two.

Seems like they've gotten MBA'd.

Cabelas was notorious for signing on new and innovative products and making them sell exclusively to Cabelas. Once Cabelas developed their own line they'd dump the product.
