Just drove to work and back up here around Lake Lanier (12miles). Mcever road is not that bad. Plenty of traffic getting around. Didn't run over and check 985. 53 through Oakwood is in good shape, Walmart is open if anyone needs anything. Told my employees to just stay at home. No need to chance it.
Guess I might head in a little later then. The SO had a post on facebook that said lots of roads were bad. Hmmmmmm - decisions, decisions.
Took me 9 hours to travel 15 miles. My wife was stuck at work with the AWD X3 and being that she is 8.5 months pregnant I wasn't going to leave her there. I made it to within 5 miles of her work, which is only around 6.5 miles from the house, but got stuck. Some VERY nice people helped get me over one small hill then offered me some hot chocolate and coffee. Had to ditch the car, which is a manual trans RWD BMW 540i with 2 month old summer tires on it, in a school parking lot and hump the 1.5 ish miles home. Then I had my neighbor drive me to her work using some very hilly but deserted roads, well except for the 15 or so cars we saw piled on top of each other at the bottom of the hills. I left the house at 11:15 that morning and finally made it to her at 9:30. Once I got to her and the X3 we made it home in ten minutes without slipping one bit. Thank God I made it through all that traffic with my car and myself in one piece. The X3 proved it's value 10000 times over last night!
