I soaked it in oil and let it sit but the speckling really wasn't bad at all to be honest. Most of the little spots just wiped away in the oil with a few rubs of a rag. I got it soaking again now she's looking better all the time.
If you have speckles that you want to get rid of, flatten the end of a spent brass shell and scrape it away. Brass will not cut through the blueing like most other metals, but it will cut away the rust, and if the rust has made it through the blueing at any spot, it will simply leave a shiny spot.
