So, I guess showing respect for the court has gone to hell in a handbasket

Remember the couple of years that Gwinnett couldn't write radar/laser speeding tickets, due to a tiff with 911-tax income sharing with Norcross?

Now... do you remember the rash of deaths attributed to the out-of-control speeding traffic in Gwinnett? Me neither.

If that doesn't make the situation crystal-clear, what could?
So eliminate speed limits?

The point is that the usual enforcement isn't saving lives. It's collecting money. The court knew that-- this was a "punishment" for Gwinnett, and I seriously doubt it would have lasted for two (three?) years if it actually impacted public safety.

The few time I got tickets this was usually the case.

I friendly phone call asking to pay the fine but leave off the points usually worked.
Course that was 20+ years ago

I view it this way, the Government will get money from you how ever it can. If its not from traffic tickets its from taxes, government needs the income to pay for infrastructure. Now I know some would not agree with that, but I rather take my chances on getting a ticket vs having to pay higher property, sales, or income taxes.

Bottom line, the Government will get what money it wants from you one way or another.
