actually no, they're not. Pistols have a measurable reliability factor. The good thing is most of the time, in direct combat roles 1911's are secondary weapons. I grew up with the 1911 and carried one in the US military. There is no debate any longer about inherent reliability, the facts are there. Some choose to ignore them, that's cool. Some choose to debate it ad hominem. (the 1911 is no longer the most reliable design)
