So who all rides motorcycles?????

Got mine tore down to service several items. Pair valve, charcoal canister and O2 sensor delete. Brake fluid flush, oil change, soldering some wires, and a couple other things. Getting ready for fall riding!

So about 9 years ago I picked up an '81 XS-650 Bobber project. A lot of work had been done but a lot of work was still needed, mainly all of the wiring and a couple of button up items, like timing the carbs and stuff.

Here's how she looked on the day I brought her home (Note the suicide shift)

Wrapped exhaust that got some attention as well:

Getting it out of the back of my old GA DOT F-350 took some, er, ingenuity to do alone:

Two styles of bars, drags and apes:

One from the ass end showing the custom shifter. You would squeeze the lever and then shift:

This was the mess of wiring that needed to be sorted.

I decided one of those small boxes to hang keys in would be perfect to house it.

And a quick mockup to see if parts would even fit inside:

First diagram which seemed a bit confusing for others to follow:

So I drew up another one. Nothing actually changed, it was just easier to follow:

Testing coil impedance to make sure it's still good:

Once I know what I need to replace, I order parts and wire look:

Mock up again:

Then mount:

I was using basic tools like a drill and screw drivers. Got it done though:

After I did all of that, I realized the pickup coil wire had been cut in half

Fixed those up and she was alive:

After that I stopped taking pics and started riding. Then had to sell because I was broke.

My 15' Yamaha FZ-07 with a few mods. Rides like a supermoto and the twin sounds amazing. It's light, nimble and has torque for days!
really fun bikes. a friend in ohio does a lot of work on lightweight twins and I know he's got quite a few things for the FZ 07's. google hordpower. He's pretty well known in the lightweight twins racing circles.

Picking this up tomorrow.

is that the actual bike you are picking up? My wife had the same color Striple R. fantastic bike. fun to ride, good power, and the seat height was pretty low which was good for her. She did a few street rides with it when she got her license but mainly did a few track days with me. The only thing I always wanted to change was the exhaust. the stock cans I felt were pretty restrictive, but then again, I also like the sound of the triple when it's a little more opened up. :)

great choice, you'll love it.

the only problem i see with the wiring is the voltage regulator...it need to be in the air stream for it to work right..its purpose is to bleed off voltage in the form of heat other wise it will burn up and kill your bat or stator..
