Solar power question

Its been a few years since I did my research. Way cheaper to have a generator standing by. To really get your money back, you would need a separate property dedicated to solar gathering. Never mind trying to store enough energy of the energy for later, when you'd like to run a refrigerator.

They have home units that run on natural gas and automatic switching units. They can start up automatically and shutdown when the power loss is over.

When using solar power be sure to put a protective cover over your battery array. If something metal falls on the batteries you will have a ton of trouble.

I am still researching this and I think I am going to go with a 800-1000watt setup and use 5-6 12v car batteries to hold the power and it should be good enough for what I use it for.
Check out industrial batteries

Buddy in CO lives off the grid at 13000 feet. He bought the backup batteries from an old Telco Central Office and st up his own battery room complete with several banks of cells up on poles that track the path of the sun. It was pricey but runs his entire house.
