Somebody name for me anything more ****ing useless and aggravating than ladder shoes?

If you'd ever rode down a 32 footer that slid out on a polished concrete floor, you might see the need.
I got more sense than to climb up a 35 ft ladder on concrete. LOL.

I did fall off a forklift blade 18 ft up off a polished concrete floor once when I was 17. That hurted.

Lost my forklift certification over that one.

Pictures please. what the hell you talking about?

Anything? That gets in the God damned way of what you are trying to do and serves no purpose other than to piss you off? Why are they even on the damned ladders? Something from California OSHA? My old painter's 28' base and fly ladders (extension ladders) do not have them and they've worked fine for more than 75 years (belonged to my grandfather).

Can someone name a more useless add-on to a construction implement?
they're supposed to keep the ladder from sinking down in soft ground and throwing you. Most of them always have one shoe up and one shoe down just to piss you off like you said. But I do see the need in some cases.

I would throw stupid podium ladders in this mix. You carry in a 8’ ladder that only gets you up 6’. BS if you ask me! Most job sites require them now. Not to mention having to strap off with a harness above 4’. We’re turning into a generation of pussies!

It’s always a problem when "government" involves themselves in the private lives of its citizenry…. coming up with all these "great ideas" to save us from ourselves…. Problem with that is 99% of the time, they only make life more difficult for someone (or everyone)….

My "ladder shoe" story…. I placed my 16 ft extension ladder on my deck to access the roof and all was good on the way up…. trying to come down was another story however…. the rubber pads on the ladder shoes had hardened over the 35 years I’d owned the ladder and as soon as I placed my weight on the ladder, it slid out from under me and I came crashing down to the deck, initially landing on one of the aluminum patio chairs…. the top end of the ladder went through the bay window of the breakfast room breaking two or three panes of glass…. absent or the ladder shoes, I would have secured the ladder differently, rather than relying on the shoes to keep the ladder from sliding….

Don’t EVEN get me started on water faucets, light bulbs, dishwashers, washing machines and other things we use in our daily lives and routines….

I learned about slippery wood and ladders but from only 12 feet & thank God I know how to land . & I was 20 years younger .

I Try to get somebody to stand at the bottom of the ladder and block any movement of the ladder' feet. And when I'm working on cleaning my gutters at the house, I actually stab the ladder into the ground three or 4 inches as far as I can make it go. I fold up those little rubber coated feet to make this easier.
