Stag Arms is no more...

Yeah you can't play the old " When I get around to it" game with the ATF. They have zero sense of humor and even less sympathy for mistakes. Now I've met one or two field agents at gun shows and shops over the years and they were okay guys . They were happy to give you all the info you needed as far as forms and NFA tech stuff. But I'm sure the agents that co ducted the investigation in Stag were the typical DC bureaucrat power hungry A holes.
Im sure there are a few ok guys, but as far as im.concerned if you work for that agency you are no friend of mine

Yeah that's true. It's like if you work for an illegitimate agency that shouldn't continue to exist after the history they've had then it really don't matter how friendly you are. You're still just a tool of a bastard criminal government agency.

Pretty much

Im sure there were a few cool kgb or gestapo members lol

Doesnt sound like they were doing anything nefarious. More than likely the unserialized parts were to be used in different guns

But in an industry that demands total compliance with asinine regulation you had best be on your game
15 non serialized machine guns is not nefarious? If not, it's at the very, very least remarkably negligent.

I'm more curious about the machine guns. That, and "missing" guns ala Fast and Furious.

Kinda wondering why the sentence was so small?
I think it's because the actual sentence is less important to the gubment prosecutors than the fines amounts and getting a felony conviction against one more person. I've read plenty of stories over the years about this kind of thing . Hell they did it to most of the people that were ever involved with the Mac 10, Cobray M11 and RPB. That one gun design was legally jinxed from the beginning. They also did it to a big MG dealer named Volmer that used to advertise in the Shotgun News and specialize in HK stuff.
I really think that the ATF loves to see guys jump out there in the C3\NFA game because they know it takes a lot of money. So they just keep feeding them more rope and then when they see a guy has stores all over and his own plane and plenty of paid for assets that's when they walk in on a fishing expedition AKA an audit. It's win win for them if they can find even one juicy screw up. They get to sieze guns make a case get their faces on the news and possibly take EVERYTHING the dealer ever had.
