STAR Model B Series Safety Detent/Spring Replacement/Alternative

I have recently learned this and thought it might possibly help someone in the future.

The model B, BS and BM safety detent and springs are interchangeable, and are easily launched across the room if you over actuate the safety with the grips off or when the slide is off.

An AR-15 takedown pin detent and spring can be used as an adequate replacement.
The spring will need to be snipped down to about 1/3 original length.

If you goof around guns Wolff has some spring kits that won't break the bank and come in all sorts of sizes. Great for bench stock.

I LAUNCHED the detent on my PD. Gun parts company charged me around $12. Wish I had known your hack.
