Stoned/Drunk Thoughts

Why can't they put alternators on electric cars?
Two things:
1. The law of conservation of energy. If you're thinking the spinning wheels can accelerate the car while simultaneously charging the batteries, the laws of physics will disagree with you.
2. They actually DO have "alternators" on electric cars. They are the motors that drive the wheels. When you coast or brake, those motors turn into generators and convert that kinetic energy to electrical energy and help charge the batteries.

why would the batteries ever go dead then?

Eventually they may get to where you gain more energy by braking and coasting than you do accelerating and then a car will be self sufficient !! (Not really, but fun to dream about ! 😂)
