Suppressor purchase now or wait?

Things are going to be harry for a bit, I have heard some dealers talking about charging to store cans until January.
Come on, did you charge when wait times were a year long...

The market is not going to support adding $100, to the prices just because they feel like it.
Some of the bigger stores might get away with it for awhile, but not long term.

Long and short of it a storm is coming do you want to prepare now, or after the storm starts...

I might pull mine off the market until then. It'll bring a premium when there are nine to be had.

That's not a bad idea.

I can't believe what I saw on Instagram the other night, I don't see the free market supporting this.

I could see prices going up for a time as demand goes up, but it will level out and fall over time. Likely get new entrants into the manufacturing game as well as there will be opportunity to supply the demand.

All of the crappy barriers to entry still exist. ATF mfr. license, excise taxes, ridiculous admin overhead for simple, machined, metal parts.

Duh. But there will be a much increased demand. A beauty of capitalism is that people tend to capitalize upon demand. And the licenses and crappery is not all that difficult or expensive, especially when shops have all of the machinery and know-how, and they just need to expand product offerings.

Folks here and elsewhere will still spew fallacies about supply and demand though when for many manufacturers/dealers, that's clearly not what the planned increased pricing is about. They're simply raising prices because they can while they can. I believe the overwhelming majority will hop on that bandwagon, so it wont be easy to say manufacturer/dealer A is raising prices, so I'll just shop at manufacturer/dealer B, C, etc. They're all going to be doing it when they realize they can.

With 10-20% increased margins, they can also create scarcity by limiting production and keeping the same profit.

It would stand to reason the price it to cheap if everything is sold out, right. High demand with short supply will drive prices up.

It would stand to reason that none are actually working on scaling up production to meet any expected increase in demand like most businesses do due to the uncertainty of the NFA. Many manufacturers are already experiencing higher demand with certain models than production allows, so by your logic, the prices for those cans should be about double what they are, right?
