I have a Taurus 38 special model 85 2" nickel revolver. I have had it for 20+ years. I bought it used from a friend and I have only fired it 20 or so rounds through it. The last time I shot it was about a month ago and it fired flawlessly and it looks great. I was looking to sell it and the interested party wanted to know when it was made. I tried to look it up on Taurus's website but it couldn't find my serial # and recommended calling customer service. After a call to them, it was recommended to send it to them to trade up to a new pistol because they considered it unsafe and it was older than their records. If I sent it in I could buy a new pistol slightly under dealer cost. Has anyone had this same experience? What would make this pistol unsafe? Age? Is this just an attempt to sell a new pistol? Here is a pic of the pistol. Looks great and fires great. Thanks for any advice.

Wait, so you send them your gun that is functioning fine, and in exchange they will SELL you another one at discount? Yeah, **** that.
I'd send it in if they GAVE me a new one . I'm not going to give my gun & cash away .
