I've eaten at that one more than a few times back in my collage days. A couple of time even sober. Main difference between them and Krystal was the line was longer at Krystal and the police inside to keep things under control. I guess putting a Krystal across the street from 3 high rise dorms was a great idea.

That Krystal has been gone a long time.


Chances are good that the Varsity will be rebuilt out on Epps Bridge Parkway in Oconee County.

I know, I was there when it happened. Seemed to catch on fire on several occasions. Lived in Crestwell for 3 years.

I lived near Athens for many years (from 1974 to 2010). I saw this coming several years ago. The Athens Varsity was has been trash for awhile now and has been steadily doing less business each year. The employees all seemed as if they were on a job forced by their parole officer. When the employees don't care and the owners don't care then people stop coming. The food was a joke.

I spent some time hanging out and petting UGA VI there at the Varsity one sunny day. He was a good dog.

Eh, the only thing worth a dang at the Varsity is the nostalgia.
