The 9mm Question: I Have ~ $350-$425 To Spend, What Are My Options?

Aim Surplus frequenly has Austrian police trade in Glocks in the sub $400 range with free shippping... well, free shipping isn't always offered. Get on their waiting list if they're sold out.

And if you really like 1911s and want one in 9mm... I'd recommend this:

http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=F3StarB&name=WWII+Star+Model+B+9mm+Pistol&groupid=666

They are in stock, $399, and free shipping. I had a Star 9mm (not a model b though) that was a great little pistol. Just slightly smaller than a full sized 1911 in .45ACP. Always work well and was pretty darn accurate.

I haven't read much about Star brand. I'll have to read up on them now.

Thanks a lot for this post. These prices are incredible...it's blowing my mind to even imagine how they can sell these so cheap. I suppose I'm a real "newb" at gun shopping, eh? :p

After looking at this sale webpage that chucklenut posted, I've narrowed it down to three different ones from this site in particular that I am looking at: The Glock 17 3rd Gen for $390, the S&W 5906 for $330, and the SigArms SP2022 for $390. These are just what I've selected what I'm interested in from this particular site. Unfortunately I didn't see any Ruger SR9s on there, but maybe when I call they will have some. However as for the three I have selected, does anyone have any ideas on which one I should go for? I know this is a personal opinion question to ask the ODT members, but I'm curious to know what you all have to say about these three. Once again, thank you exceedingly for all of the help so far. I genuinely appreciate it.

Make sure you factor in shipping, credit card surcharge, and the fee your FFL will charge you to receive the gun. Many times when you add in the fees the actual "in your hand" price is not the bargain you thought it was. CDNN is good folks though, I've bought tons of stuff from them through the years.

Of the guns you listed, I'd get the Glock. S&W mags can be expensive and they are kind of bulky/heavy guns, the plastic Sigs are decent but Sig mags are also pricey. The Glock will retain it's value (especially here in GA) much better than the other two and mags/accessories are plentiful...

That is true...after factoring in the FFL fee, the shipping, and the ammunition alone, I'd be close to $500. But, I'd be getting a Glock I guess. Worth it? Possibly.

Be patient, there are some decent deals to be had on ODT but you have to be ready to pounce. It's not hard to find a G17 in the $450 range here and many come with extra mags, holsters, and other stuff...

Yeah I agree, I've seen some good deals on here as well. Difficult to be patient when you get that itchy clicker finger, though. Beginning to think I had my heart set on the Ruger SR9/Ruger P95, but I definitely know the reputation of a Glock.

Don't rush - get the gun you really want. SR9s are generally much cheaper than Glocks on the used market and they show up here from time to time. I've seen P95s for $250 more than once - they were never pricey to begin with...
