The "Deadly" 22lr

just curious?
what exactly would you like to get shot with?
I don't know about him but I would prefer a cannon

There is no doubt 22 can and will kill. If I have to shoot someone though, I'm not shooting them to kill them. I'm shooting them to stop their action. If I have to shoot someone I want them to stop NOW.

For me personally I don't trust 22 to be able to so that. Honestly I don't trust 9mm, 5.56. or 7.62 to do that either which is why if I have to shoot some I plan on doing so several times.

This whole thread has got me re-thinking my EDC...I think I'm going to get rid of my pistols and start carrying a bow and arrows (a.k.a., pointy sticks), Ijust need to make certain that the arrows are larger than a .22.
I just want a pointed stick 3" diameter and 6' long . I want to keep them at a distance.

Oh for F's sake. Another thread trying convince people it's a good idea to use a 22lr for self defense.

1) A 22lr is not adequate for self defense, even if it is "Better than nothing". Of course it's better than nothing because nothing is, well, nothing.
2) Anyone that uses the argument that a 22lr will kill you has no clue what a self defense weapon is supposed to do. A SD weapon is supposed to stop the threat and 22lr really sucks at doing that unless you get lucky and make a CNS hit.
3) Shot placement is not everything. What you hit them with has to be reasonably reliable in dong the job (stopping the threat) and a 22lr is not.
4) Only "magical thinking" comes up with the idea that a person can make good hits with a 22lr, but not a better SD round. If the only thing you can hit with is a 22lr you damn well better start getting to the range more if you intend to defend yourself with a firearm.
5) If a person can carry and shoot a 22lr, they can carry and shoot a better SD round.
6) Any typical SD pistol round is bad at its job, so why on earth would a person choose the worst of the worst to bet their life on?
7) Any security a person feels by carrying a 22lr for SD is an illusion and it's one that can get you killed.

Oh, and as for the so impressive video of the 22lr hitting the gel block, stop the video at 43 seconds and look at the size of the bullet in flight. It's either not a 22lr or the gel block is only about 5 inches high. So no, not that impressive as all.

Come on, people. Common sense!
